The Machame Route is renowned for its challenging yet stunning ascent on Kilimanjaro, offering climbers a choice between a six or seven-day trek. This route is often preferred by those seeking a diverse hiking experience through varied landscapes, from lush rainforests to alpine deserts, before culminating at the breathtaking Uhuru Peak.

Day 1
This 7 days Machame route Climbing Kilimanjaro Program; You will be picked up from airport and transferred to The arranged Hotel in Arusha followed by briefing from your mountain guide and rest at the hotel or lodge.
Day 2
After breakfast, you will be picked up at the hotel at 1:30 am and driven to the Machame entrance gate of Mount Kilimanjaro National Park, about a two-hour drive away. At the gate, your guide will handle registration forms while porters weigh the luggage. During this time, you can explore the entrance gate, observe monkeys, or watch the mountain team preparing for the climb. Once preparations are complete, your Kilimanjaro trekking adventure begins. You will quickly find yourself deep within the mountain rainforest, surrounded by ancient trees, ferns, liana, lichen, and moss. With luck, you may spot black and white colobus monkeys in the treetops. After a 5 to 6-hour walk, you will reach Machame Camp, located just above the tree line at 2,835 meters. At the camp, at the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro, you will enjoy your first hot mountain dinner, followed by an overnight stay in tents.
Day 3
After an early morning breakfast, you will begin your second day of trekking. The path steepens, and the landscape changes to moorland and heathland, offering views of the exciting mountain range. The second day's trek is shorter than the previous day's, and you will arrive at Shira Camp by mid-afternoon. The camp provides an incredible view of the mountain, and during sunset, the sun illuminates the rock face and glacier of Kibo.
Day 4
Today you will climb about 800 meters, but you will camp at an elevation only slightly higher than the previous night, allowing your body to acclimatize better. The hike begins with a long ascent above the Shira Plateau towards the Lava Tower at 4,600 meters. The vegetation becomes sparser as the landscape changes to an afro-alpine desert. The route passes through the wide Barranco Valley, featuring lobelia and giant senecio plants. After a 6 to 7-hour walk, you will arrive at Barranco Camp, the most stunning camp on the mountain.
Day 5
Today, you will conquer the Barranco Wall. Although some stages require you to use your hands for a better grip, no actual climbing is necessary, and your guide will be with you every step of the way to provide assistance. The route features numerous ascents and descents, offering further acclimatization before reaching the mountain ridge. Walking along the ridge, you will enjoy the beautiful landscape with its stunning contrasts of desert and vegetation, before finally reaching the cloudy Karanga Camp. This trek takes between 3 to 4 hours, leaving plenty of time to rest and play a game of rummy.
Day 6
Awakening to the sunlight dancing off the Kibo Summit, you'll enjoy an energetic breakfast before heading towards today’s destination – Barafu Camp. Much of the day will be spent trekking through dry, deserted terrain, with Kibo always in view on your left. After 3-4 hours, you'll arrive at Barafu Camp, where an early dinner awaits before your overnight stay, as the highlight of your trip is only a few short hours away.
Day 7
Around midnight, your guide will wake you with a warm cup of tea and biscuits to prepare for your final ascent. With only the moon and your headlamps for light, you'll ascend to Stella Point, reaching the crater rim in approximately 5 to 7 hours. Another 1 to 2 hours will bring you to Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters, where you can witness the sunrise over the African landscape, painting a pink hue over the snowy peak and making the glaciers sparkle like diamonds around you. After capturing this unforgettable view and achievement, you'll begin your descent along the same route back to Barafu Camp. There, your team awaits with snacks and refreshments. Rested and relaxed, you'll continue to Mweka Camp for your final night on Africa's highest mountain.
Day 8
After a delicious breakfast and a traditional farewell ceremony from your mountain crew, you'll begin your final descent down the mountain. Trekking through the rainforest once more, you'll have another chance to spot the cheeky colobus monkeys before reaching the Mweka gate in approximately 2 to 3 hours. At the gate, you'll be met and transported back to your hotel in Arusha. The remainder of the day is yours to enjoy at leisure, reflecting on your accomplishment of conquering Mount Kilimanjaro and preparing for your journey back home.
